Story

We are raising funds for saigonchildren while ready to jump on a cycling adventure in Mai Chau at the end of this month!

This is the 13th year saigonchildren hosting the Charity Cycle Adventure to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Vietnam. The previous editions have raised over US$660,000, which contributed to building more than 220 schools and have raised 43.400+ scholarships for children all over Vietnam; over 35,300+ youth benefit from career counseling, and 12,200+ children with disabilities impacted by their projects in the past 30 operating years in Vietnam.

My team's goal is to raise $3500 to support for the program.

Kim (the girl in the picture) is a 5th-grade Tan Phuoc Hung Primary School student. Kim lives with her family in a small house on the Hau River branch. Her parents work as farmers and earn meagre wages, leaving them with little money to support their three children's education. The road to school is treacherous. Every day she has to travel a 3km river for around 15 minutes without a life jacket in their vehicle. Despite this, Kim's father remains optimistic about his children's future and hopes they can finish school and fulfil their dreams.

Kim has been receiving the Child Development Scholarship from saigonchildren since 2021 when she was in grade 3. In Vietnam, the tuition fee is waived for the primary school level. Our scholarship (US$155 for primary level) helps with expenses such as uniforms, school supplies and rice. She also benefits from counselling and urgent support. In March 2023, to help shorten Kim’s journey to school, and support her father focus on his work, saigonchildren also provided her a new bicycle that Kim can travel to school by herself.

For children like Kim and others in the scholarship programme of saigonchildren, going to school and finishing grade 12 is a simple dream. You can help make this dream a reality by donating to saigonchildren, an organization that supports disadvantaged children's education in Vietnam.

Every donation can make a significant difference in a child's life. Let's work together to help children like Kim achieve their dreams and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
