Sarah Smith worked at BPL for 15 years and was a great friend and colleague. After getting the all-clear in early 2022 from her previous cancer diagnosis, we were all very shocked and saddened to hear in October 2022 the horrible news that the cancer had returned and was terminal. It was all so sudden and she is greatly missed.

In her memory, we, Sarah's friends and colleagues from BPL decided to organise a charity walk, around her hometown of Welwyn Garden City, raising funds for two very worthy causes - The Isabel Hospice in Welwyn, who cared for Sarah and Cancer Research. On the 7th October, a group of her friends from BPL will walk 12.5 miles around the outside of the town, culminating in a meal to celebrate our achievement, share memories and raise a toast to Sarah.
