Story
Sally and Rosie are (attempting) to cycle 50km on 5th September on world Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) awareness Day, in memory of Danny Turnbull. We are the non elite, all the gear and no idea team! But we'll do it as it's raising money for a great cause that's close to both our hearts. We have worked at the National Spinal Injuries Centre for a combined total of 25 years.
We both know Danny as he was a visiting solicitor, spinal injured patient and friend. Danny married our dear former colleague Susie in 2012 and we share some special memories with them both.
The Back Up Trust supports those living with Spinal Cord Injuries and Cauda Equina Syndrome through multiple ways (mentoring / peer support, activity weeks, dance, education and training....) and we work alongside them providing wheelchair skills during our patients rehabilitation.
The #NoLimits Ride for Danny is back again and this year we're going virtual!
Take on a distance of either 50km or 100km on Saturday 5 September, World Spinal Cord Injury Day.
In 2012, Back Up trustee Danny Turnbull and a team of hand cyclists teamed up with HotChillee and cycled from London to Paris. Sadly, Danny lost his battle with cancer in 2017, and since then we have had the annual #NoLimits ride to raise funds for Back Up in his memory.
