Story
Hi folks.
Im not a runner, in fact I really dont like running but this year I will be taking part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon - on Sunday 14th May.
Why - well I blame Kevin Sinfield - he's an amazing person but he's caused me a lot of pain. King Kev's mate, Rob Burrow is suffering from Motor Neurone disease. Kev decided to help and ran 7 marathons in 7 days, then 100 miles in a day and then 7 ultra-marathons in 7 days. That not being enough he decided to organise a marathon in his mate's name.
As some of you may know my 2nd cousin died recently from MND so I thought the least I could do was run one marathon. But Jeez its hard (and Im barely half way through the training!)
If you havent heard of Rob Burrow you are probably a Southerner (hes a legend up North). Small in stature (he was constantly told he was too small to play rugby) but very quick and incredibly brave he became one of our finest rugby league players and starred in the legendary Leeds Rhino teams of the 2000s and 2010s. If you get a chance read his book (Too Many Reasons to Live) and watch this clip on Utube of one of his tries https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgDe9o-7Xsg. Sadly he is now suffering from MND but is fighting hard.
So please do give what you can to help MND stop ruining lives like Rob's and my 2nd cousin Jake's.
Im also raising money for a second charity being Alzheimers. Many of you will have parents who are suffering from dementia and the sad reality is that many of us will catch this horrible disease. We need to do everything we can to stop this disease now.
Please use the buttons below to donate to whichever charity you wish or split your donation between the two. Ill match whatever is given to max of £10 so lets see if we can raise loads of money!
All the best
