Story
As many people know now our son Louie was born with end stage kidney failure and is going to be having a kidney transplant in the near future.
We have decided to take part in this challenge to raise money for the National Kidney Federation, a charity that has suddenly become an invaluable support to us and a place we have turned to for advice many times in the last year.
The Best Foot Forward Challenge 2024 involves walking 70,951 steps in June (2,365 steps per day).
The 70,951 steps represents the number of kidney patients on dialysis and transplanted in the UK.
The NKF is run by kidney patients for kidney patients, and it supports 3.5 million people with Chronic Kidney Disease and 60,000 patients who have end stage kidney failure. The charity also supports dialysis patients and transplanted patients and their carers.
The NKF offers a National Kidney Patients Helpline 0800 169 0936 offering medical information leaflets, help and advice - with trained staff answering around 200 calls a week.
