Story
Imagine a classroom with no desks, no chairs and no books. Sadly, this is the reality for too many students attending school in Africa. According to UNESCO, more than 60% of students who go to school in Africa will not be able to read or write properly after finishing school. We can help make a difference to these students, as well as the environment.
As part of our school activities for World Book Day and the Department for Education's National Year of Reading, we will be supporting the life-changing charity, Books2Africa, to help others to access the joy and knowledge to be gained from reading. If you have any good quality pre-loved books to donate, these can be dropped off at the school reception, or students can take these directly to the LRC. Books2Africa accept a wide range of used texts for all ages, including children's books, secondary/A Level/university textbooks and unused notebooks. In order to raise funds for the shipping costs of our book donations, you can contribute on our JustGiving page.
