Story
Hello and welcome,
Welcome to our latest fundraising page. VirginMoneyGiving stopped business, so we had to set up a new fundraising page, and the total raised started anew. We achieved a fabulous total of just over £10,000 inc Gift Aid on our original page!
Run or Cake was set up as a Facebook based charity running group back in Feb 2015, as a fun way to encourage people in their running and training and to help raise money for several worthy charities as it goes along.
We are also a way of raising awareness of some of the charities we raise money for.
Run or Cake has a dedicated Facebook page at the following link:www.facebook.com/groups/761659000585116/
Please note, this link is to a private group and has limited accessibility in order to preserve runners privacy regarding their day to day running.
Run or Cake, the fundraising group. How does it all work?
The members raise money for our charities by pledging to run a certain amount of runs per week, whether it be training or at actual events etc, this helps them keep active and encourages them to commit to regular consistent weekly running to improve their health, fitness and overall running ability.
If a runner fails to hit their pledged weekly target any given week, then they forfeit their entitlement to eat the cake they would have earned by getting out for a run. Instead of an actual cake forfeit, they forfeit a modest £1 per missed week's pledge to our fundraising page here at Just Giving.
This is a new fundraising page as Virgin Money Giving closed at the end of Oct 2021, and we had to set up a new page, hence this 'Team' page here.
We achieved a fabulous total of just over £10,000 inc Gift Aid on our original page!
We regularly run at events together wearing our now customary purple, black, electric green, electric orange or electric pink Run or Cake tops to raise awareness of our group and our fundraising.
Not only that, but we also do social runs from time to time and various other activities or idea's to help us raise additional money for our charities.
We are eternally grateful for the generosity and commitment of our members.
Note : The group is capped at 100 members to maintain a close and private community of like-minded running family and friends.
