We are a team made up of the mummy, friends and aunties of a beautiful angel Orla Raine Rich-Lynes.

Unfortunately during pregnancy we had the devastating news that our baby had developed a diaphragmatic hernia and suffered with congenital heart disease. However, we were never given a definitive answer of how this would affect her life or what the outcome may be. We were given such small odds that Orla would make full term and to be prepared her heart may not be beating at each scan. Although statistically the chances were very small, we didn't feel we could give up on her, as parents we both agreed we wouldn't stop fighting until she decided it was time and with that continued the pregnancy on what if. Every day we prayed she would keep fighting & undergo a life changing operation at a few days old. Her family were behind her all of the way and Orla did surprise us all, she fought to 38 weeks and was delivered safely.

However, sadly Orla passed away 7 hours after birth. The neonatal team did all they could but unfortunately Orla had more complications presented than originally picked up on scan. She has left a huge hole in all of our hearts and will never be forgotten. We have decided to run in memory of the little fighter she was and raise money for the amazing Tommy's charity.

In the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss during pregnancy or birth. Tommy's fund more than 2 million pounds worth of research every year into the causes of miscarriage,still birth and preterm birth. Raising funds for Tommys will provide better research into conditions like Orlas and give parents who are in simular situations a clearer understanding of the risks.
