Story
We are a group of 12 friends/Mums running for the Rowan’s Hospice.
We are running in memory of Caroline's lovely husband Andy, who died in April 2 years ago, age 51 from oropharyngeal cancer after a 2 year illness. We want to give something back to this remarkable organisation and it’s wonderful team of staff.
The Hospice at Home team were extraordinary. Respectful, sensitive, brilliant, joyful and beyond caring to both Andy, Caroline and their 4 children during those last few weeks and months of his precious life. Without them, Andy would not have been able to die at home, nor would he have had a dignified, comfortable and peaceful end that he wished for, at home, with his family around him.
Since his death, the Rowans Meerkat team have continued to provide the most incredible support to both their daughter and to Caroline via their Bereavement counsellors, helping them navigate the enormity of their loss.
Post Covid the financial support for this amazing hospice is more crucial than ever and we want to help donate as much as we can to enable other individuals and their families to benefit from their work.
A hospice is not a given in every community and we are so lucky to have them within ours, so please help in any way you can.
We have been training for 12 weeks, come rain or shine, so that we can enjoy the Great South Run as much as possible.
We would be enormously grateful for any donations to this very worthy charity.
