Story

My name is Iris. I am a 20 year old student who is organising a relay run from Land’s End to John o Groats to raise money for the Down’s Syndrome Association and Down’s Syndrome Scotland. The event is called RunAcross and will begin on International Down’s Syndrome Day (21st March 2024) and take 14 days to complete.

My little sister, Nancy, has inspired me to organise this event in aid of two wonderful charities. Viewing the world through Nancy’s eyes is one of the most beautiful parts of my life. She has taught me patience, kindness and unconditional love.

This event brings together a variety of different people who share my vision of creating a world where people like my sister aren't just able to achieve their goals but are actively encouraged to do so. I want to spark a new conversation and show the world the capabilities of people with Down’s Syndrome. My two chosen charities share my vision of creating a more inclusive and empowering society so all the money raised will be split between the two.
