Story
Our team is made up of close friends and family who are taking on the "Beat the Mournes" 18 mile walk on the 14th of June in memory of Jacinta.
Jacinta was not only an amazing wife, mother, sister and friend, she was also caring, generous and special.
Starting her career as an EN Nurse in Whiteabbey Hospital, she became Sister of the Day Procedure Unit going on to complete her Masters and joining Ulster University as a Lecturer in Nursing. She was a core member of the Nursing School, instrumental in setting up and managing the Competence Test Centre and creating a culture of care and compassion for all who passed through it. Held in high regard by all, her influence was immense and continues to this day. Jacinta touched the careers of over 10,000 nursing professionals while at UU and the tributes after her death showed just how many she inspired.
Following her time at UU she managed a Residential Care Home during the pandemic making, excellent care with dignity, her focus. Working with the Macklin Group she continued to educate, developing and delivering award winning training courses to ensure the quality-of-care givers remained something to be proud of.
In her personal life, she was kind, had a big heart, was full of fun and up for a challenge.
Despite a heroic fight against cancer, Jacinta passed away in September 2023, surrounded by those who loved her.
She will never be forgotten by her family and friends and those people whose lives she touched of whom there are many.
The profession she loved became so important following her diagnosis and we know she will be proud that we complete this challenge in her name and raise funds for Marie Currie. So please help us if you can!
Ulster University now have The Jacinta Lynch Memorial Award for Excellence in Supporting Student Learning
