March the Month 2020
Campaign by PROSTATE CANCER UK (RCN 1005541 and in Scotland (SC039332))
Take part in March the Month this September and walk 11,000 steps a day to represent over 11,000 men who die from prostate cancer every year. Help us beat the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK.

Story

In December whilst at an appointment with my GP, I asked for a PSA test. I had no symptoms, but my father died from Prostate cancer 10 years ago, so thought it was best to get checked. The week before Christmas i received a call to say my PSA count was 99.9 (normal count should be between 3 to 5). Following various scans and examinations, I was diagnosed Prostate cancer. Currently I am hormone treatment and half way through my chemo therapy. This will be followed by 7 weeks of radiotherapy. I am undertaking this 11000 challenge, as I not only want to raise money for research into this disease but to raise awareness for men to have a PSA test. I HAD NO SYMPTOMS, but my cancer had started to spread. I dread to think what situation I would have been in, if I didn't ask for the test. My partner Dawn is also doing this challenge with me, she has supported me throughout this journey, hairloss, mood swings and weight gain (and that's just her). Thank you for reading my story and donating. Love Rob and
