Hello
We will be riding over 100 miles in a day at the Ride London-Essex national event to help raise money for Waterfall's Solar Panel Project.
All the electricity on the public grid on Pemba is supplied through a submarine cable from mainland Tanzania. On the island the public grid only reaches 30% of homes, leaving the majority of the village with no access to electricity. Families are still using primitive kerosene lamps which are dangerous and detrimental to their health due to toxic fumes. Children cannot study after dark and parents cannot work so their income is restricted.
Your donation will allow families to have a light and power source in their homes. A very basic utility that we feel all people should have access to. This is a fully zakat eligible project as the panels will be owned by each family.
A simple solar panel kit costs £60.00.
We kindly ask you to donate any amount or in multiples of £60.00 for a panel.
All types of donations are accepted: zakat, sadaqah & lilah
Jazakamullahu Khayran
Thank you
