2024 update. The Task has been successfully completed with 131 Rising Suns visited around the UK. A book of our adventures has been published (Land of The Rising Suns by Kevin Mackenzie) and is available from Amazon and all profits are donated to St Luke's.

Hi we are Steve and Kev, two recently retired drinking buddies who frequent the Rising Sun in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. We are looking for some constructive things to do in our free time (along with some less sensible ones) and have set ourselves the challenge of having a pint (at least!!) in every Rising Sun in the UK (apparently there are 129). We plan to make a donation to each pub's charity however we are hoping to raise a sizable contribution for our Rising Sun's charity of choice St. Luke's Hospice Basildon. Please note this is not an attempt to get free beers, we have signed a pledge to pay for all our own drinks.

October 2022 update: We have passed some significant milestones - having now visited over 100 Rising Suns and so far collected £4000 (with Gift Aid) for a very worthy cause. All further contributions gratefully received! It is also nice to report that 3 previously closed pubs of interest have reopened so we have a bit more travelling to do as one of them is in Northern Ireland!
