My great uncle Geoff recently passed away battling cancer, through a global pandemic, and I’d like to show my support to the staff at Katharine house who looked after him so amazingly when his family couldn’t get to see him. His own sister (nana jean) was unable to say her goodbyes in person due to lockdown restrictions, and as if it couldn’t get any worse, she was then diagnosed with stage 4 cancer just one week after he passed. Cancer is a cruel disease, and a local hospice like Katharine house makes all the difference to the families trying to cope in such difficult circumstances.

A child of mine is not only an amazing local charity providing support to bereaved family’s for a loss of a child, it is also the chosen charity for This Is Fitness (my work place). The founder Gayle is an inspirational and dedicated lady, who I am proud to say is a member and a friend to our gym community. Losing a child at any stage of life is heart breaking, but to know a local support network is there to listen, support and guide you is a huge emotional relief to many.
