Story

On Sunday September 10, we are cycling to Brighton and probably back to raise money for the Royal Free Charity. Last year we managed to raise enough money to help 8 families of children with Type 1 Diabetes to attend a specialist diabetes activity camp. The benefits of such camps include recieving specialist care, diabetes education for all including friends and family members, support and the opportunity to connect with others, improved independence and confidence in the management of the condition, the opportunity to take part in a wide range of physical activities, psychological support and respite for parents all of which contribute to increased time in range and greater health outcomes for the future. To send just one child to camp costs around £500.00, and there are additional costs if other family memebers wish to attend. We believe the benefits are such, that every child with diabetes should have the opportunity to attend such a camp, so this year we are setting our target at £8000.00 to send even more families in 2024.
