Story
Hello! My name is Reuben and I am 10 years old. I am taking part in Marathon in May for SMA to raise money to help people in the UK affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Last year I ran the Marathon in May for SMA around my garden (just for fun during lockdown). I love running with my uncle and at parkrun (when I was allowed to) with my friend Phil so, this year I am going to run not one but TWO, yes I said TWO marathons in May (that's a total of 52.4 miles) for a reason which means a lot to me and my family.
My mummy has spinal muscular atrophy which is rare genetic neuromuscular disorder that leads to the loss of cells (my mummy says they are called motor neurons) and this leads to progressive muscle wasting. Currently there is no cure for SMA.
By running two marathons I am hoping to raise £100 for Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK. SMA UK provide support and information to individuals and families. They advocate for access to treatments & are committed to help fund and facilitate research into the condition.
Any sponsorship would be amazing. I WILL DO IT!
