Story
We are the Sloth brothers, and we will be taking part in the Children's Hospice South West Charity Bike Ride, RIDE FOR PRECIOUS LIVES. We will be cycling to raise funds for the associated CHSW charity Raise a Smile for Harry.
My name is Darren and my good friend in the picture is Mitch, I wanted to do this ride for a while in memory of Harry and the opportunity came up to do it with Mitch so when I asked him to join me I was honoured that he said yes and that is when the Sloth brothers was founded.
I am not a bike rider so this challenge will be hard over the 3 days but with Mitch by my side I will get the Challenge done.
NOW A LITTLE FROM MITCH
I am privileged to call the Davies Family my friends. I never met Harry, but the love they have for him shines bright to this day. I am honoured to be riding by Darren's side to support him in this charity event. Please can I ask you to dig deep and donate. The family have made the hard choice to call this 10th year of charity work their final year, for Raise A Smile For Harry (but will still continue to support other CHSW events). Let us make it a bloody good wrapping up total.
Thank you in advance.
Sloth Brother’s
Little about Raise a Smile for Harry.
We Started Raise A Smile For Harry in 2011 to raise money for Charlton Farm, which is part of Children's Hospice South West. We stayed at the farm to receive end of life care for Harry after treatment for Cancer failed. Staying at the Farm for 5 weeks, we were very impressed by the way they cared for Harry who had 1-2-1 care from the staff and also the way they looked after Josh and us. Nothing seemed to be any trouble at all. Harry had his own room downstairs and the rest of the family had rooms upstairs where we could stay or rest if needed. Hospices are often thought of as places where people go to die in comfortable surroundings with dignity and respect. At Children's Hospice South West it is different. Children go there to live! With as much fun and laughter that is put into their lives as can be. This is as much a tonic for their family as themselves. How great it was to see our Harry having fun, even though we knew what was just around the corner. Charlton Farm became Harry's holiday home and when the time came there was no better place to be or people to be with. What is more, they continue to support us to help deal with our loss. This is why we started Raise A Smile For Harry and with the help of our friends we are so intent on trying to support Children's Hospice South West who are currently running 3 of these hospices and who are making the most of short and precious lives across the South West. We would ask you all to help us support them as almost all of their funding comes from gifts and donations not government funding.
