Story
In May, we'll be taking on the Hackney Half to support the work of Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest (Mind CHWF).
As many of you know, we aren't just colleagues, but we also spend a lot of time together outside of work. Towards the latter half of last year, we added running to the long list of things we love to do as a pair. It was a slog at first, but we motivated ourselves with new routes, outfits, and food. It didn't take long for it to make us feel healthier, happier, more confident, and clear-headed.
Many of us have felt the presence of mental health issues at some point or another and witnessed how rapidly they can take their toll - either on ourselves or those we love.
Both of us know that living with these issues can be an alienating experience, and we count ourselves extremely lucky to have solid support systems. Some do not have this privilege and for others, the guidance of family and friends cannot come close to the level of support needed.
Mental health support is not and never will be, something suited to a one-size-fits-all approach. Our minds are complicated which makes the need for bespoke, judgement-free information and guidance vital for those who need it.
That's why we chose to support Mind by running the Hackney Half. If our donations help to change even one person's life by making them feel less alone in their experiences, then that's good enough for us!
Just £25 could pay for a low-income client with serious enduring mental health issues to attend a Managing Anger and Difficult Emotions group.
We'd be so grateful for any donations... and wish us luck!
