Story
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated!! It is so wonderful to be able to help these wonderful charities, and to have raised even more than the original target! We hope that you will enjoy watching the above video of the concert if you didn't manage to make it in person :)
On 4th May 7pm Purcell School Students are putting on a Charity Concert to raise money for two wonderful charities: DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and Sound and Music UK. This concert will feature Ravel’s Jeux D’eau performed by Anastasia Gould, and a new Piano Concerto, composed and conducted by Maddie Melville-Smith, where 4 soloists (Benji Lock, Ozel Gunhanlar, Amanda Zhou and Phoebe Papandrea) will each perform a movement, accompanied by a full student orchestra, and a choir in the final movement. The concert will be recorded, so if you’re unable to attend live then you can look out for it in the following weeks!
About the Charities:
I have chosen these two charities because I feel that music is a medium through which we can convey a togetherness and a hope for peace. I hope that in listening to both pieces, you will hope for those across the world and support the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian appeal, in all their amazing work to help those who need it. Sound and Music UK is a charity which I’ve worked with in the past, having been inspired by their Summer School, I was part of their 2020-21 Young Voices committee, and from this, I saw their enthusiasm and commitment to helping composers grow, inspiring many others too. I adore composing and want as many other young people as possible to have opportunities such as the Summer School, regardless of their background.
Thank you so much to the amazing teachers at the Purcell School for all of their support in this concert. All of us involved have put in this effort because we really want this concert to help as many others as possible through music – we hope that you will be able to help us in this aim and support both amazing charities.
The pages below will take you to donate to DEC and Sound and Music, where the money goes directly to them. Thank you so much.
