Story
Plunkett staff member Di Cameron and friend Lauren will be weaving their way across part of Oxfordshire to raise funds for Plunkett Foundation: a UK-wide charity that helps community groups set up and run collective, community owned businesses.
From 6-8th May, the Walk for Plunkett event will see people all over the UK walking to raise money for this unique organisation - please support us!
Di and Lauren will be walking between two very different community-owned pubs: The Seven Stars in Marsh Baldon (https://sevenstarsatmarshbaldon.co.uk /), and The Ampleforth Arms in Oxford (https://www.theampleforth.co.uk /), across hills, fields, woods and mud! This will be about 8.5 miles. Both pubs have been saved by their communities with Plunkett's help, and are treasured social hubs.
Community businesses do more than just provide a service - they bring work and training opportunities, social cohesion, and have a huge impact on the mental health and wellbeing of people in the community they're located in, through being inclusive spaces that are rooted in the needs of local people
.
By raising funds in support of Plunkett's services, together we'll be helping more communities take things into their own hands and bring people together.
Please consider donating what you are able to on our JustGiving page; all funds go to Plunkett to keep their phone lines open, their specialist business support in place, and their services there for communities all across the UK.
