Story
Pink Power and AIM High are uniting with Living Beyond Breast Cancer to support people diagnosed with breast cancer at our own special yoga event on May 21st, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM at Aim High Studio (3015 W Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA).
Each year, Living Beyond Breast Cancer reaches over 600,000 people with their emotional, practical, and evidence-based content that is meaningful to those newly diagnosed, in-treatment, post-treatment, and living with metastatic disease. Make an immediate, positive difference in the lives of people affected by breast cancer. LBBC provides free services, information and support that help ensure no one living with breast cancer feels uninformed or alone.
84 cents of every dollar donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer goes directly to programming. Since the COVID-19 pandemic the programming and support resources LBBC provides to those impacted by breast cancer is more vital than ever. They are committed to creating a culture of acceptance—where sharing the diversity of the lived experience of breast cancer fosters self-advocacy and hope.
Meera Thoniyil, leader of Pink Power, has participated in the same event since she was 6 years old. It will be twelve years since she first practiced on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, with her Mom and thousands of others. She created Pink Power in an effort to spread awareness amongst young adults. Teens can be impacted by this deadly disease in their adult life and this team will help recognize that. This will be the second year that AIM High and Pink Power have decided to do this, and it's a reminder to come together to spread awareness for LBBC.
Fortunately, AIM High studio has the outdoor space and facilities to host our event again this year. Together we would like as many people as possible to join us, and since it is a free class. If possible we also recommend donating 20 dollars. If this is not possible, you can show your support by contributing to the team whatever you can. However, if you are able to come please consider wearing pink and blue in recognition of all the people, both men and women, who have had breast cancer.
Through the power of yoga, we can reach out and raise funds to ensure that anyone diagnosed with breast cancer has access to trusted information and a community of support. No one should face breast cancer alone. Everyone should have reliable information to make the best decisions for themselves.
We look forward to seeing you at the event!
