Story
After both saying we would never run another marathon after doing London and Melbourne marathons between us….we are running more!
This year we (Phoebe and Georgie) are running the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon in April for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Georgie is also running the Zurich Barcelona Marathon in March for Alzheimer's Research UK.
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. They are striving for a cure to dementia and Alzheimer’s, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia, so no one has to go through the heartbreak of dementia again.
In the U.K., 1 in 3 people are diagnosed with dementia throughout their life, with 50% of people being affected by dementia, including those caring for someone with dementia and knowing someone with dementia.
In January 2024, Georgie lost her Granny at the age of 98 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. Witnessing the deterioration of her memory, behaviour, personality, charm and character was truly heart-breaking. The care and support she got from medical professionals and her closest family was incredible, however, extremely difficult and distressing for our family seeing her deteriorating first hand.
With your support, Alzheimer’s Research will keep going to research a treatment and cure for dementia, until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia. By aiming to raise £2,000 this money can go towards funding a vital clinical trial to bring us closer to a cure.
Any donations HUGELY appreciated. Find us doing laps of Battersea Park for the foreseeable.
