Story
When challenged with running 5K to support Saving the Surviviors - a project close to our hearts, Peter and I scratched our heads. We wanted to support the cause and take on a challenge, but to us 5k didn’t seem to be very challenging....
So what could we do? We are both fairly experienced runners, if a little rusty at the moment, but we are not really walkers. So I had a crazy moment and thought - What if we walk along the river from Bishops Stortford to the Olympic Park in Stratford? Slightly longer than 5K (more like 5OK!) but how hard can it be? We did a 10k training walk last weekend....
We are really forward to our leisurely stroll, look out for the photos and do support us if you can, the rhinos need us...
Saving the Survivors was started in 2012 to treat and care for injured endangered wildlife species. Our main focus is on rhino that have survived poaching attempts, but we also routinely work with cheetah, lion, leopard, African Wilddog, Sable and Roan antelope, and elephant.
Most of these animals are being treated in the bush in their natural environment, as transporting them is not always possible, and it is often extremely stressful. We work throughout Southern Africa, but we also offer assistance to endangered species worldwide.
