Story
We would like to raise money for both Macmillan and St Anne's Hospice. Both charities offered Dad and the family an unbelievable amount care and support throughout Dads battle with cancer.
At the end of October 2024, Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer, which had sadly spread to other areas. Unfortunately, there were no suitable treatments, so the only option Dad had was to crack on and live the remaining months to the fullest.
Although the outlook was pretty bleak and the next 4 months were so tough, not once did Dad stop having a laugh, cracking jokes or taking the pi$$! Dads spirit was, is, and will always remain unbroken!
Dad unfortunately passed away on the 5th February 2025, with the final week or so being spent at St Anne's Hospice.
Not only were St Anne's Hospice amazing in Dads final week, but their St Anne's Hospice at Home team visited on a regular bass throughout, always offering help, guidance and care where they could.
As well as St Anne's, Macmillan regularly came to visit Dad at home, and helped in the early stage, with anything from sorting parking, to organising medicines. And the number of dog treats Belle got brought from the Macmillan team would dint anyone's budget! Dad really appreciated the time spent by Macmillan in helping him understand the changes that were going on, and giving him some peace of mind.
The care offered to Dad from Macmillan from the outset, and especially them final days at St Anne's Hospice is something that we will never forget as a family, and we would love to make sure the care Dad was able to receive is extended to as many families as possible in the future.
