Story
Myself and some of my work colleagues are walking 50 miles to raise money in aid of Bliss Charity.
My two baby girls were born at 28+5 geststion and spent a combined 16 weeks in neonatal care. The first thing recommended to us by staff nurses was to look at the Bliss website, from there we found so much comfort in all the different articles and advise. I often found myself looking up things on their website when we were having a bumpy time in the NICU and it genuinely really helped. Bliss offer so much more than information, from mental health support to financial support it really is a little bit of sun on a rainy day. For example I had to express breast milk for my girls as they were too tiny to have anything else, the breast pump I used in the hospital had a plaque to say it was donated by Bliss! I was able to give my girls their best chance and start in life thanks to them.
Bliss’ vision is that every baby born premature or sick in the UK has the best chance of survival and quality of life. We champion the right for every baby born premature or sick to receive the best care by supporting families, campaigning for change and supporting professionals, and enabling life-changing research
To my Stevie & Jessie, my strong willfull girls, you have come so far and are so loved. I am in awe at your resilience every single day 🩷🩷
