Raising money for Reverse Rett

Cure MECP2 Duplication UK
Campaign by Reverse Rett (RCN 1136809)
The Cure MECP2 Duplication UK Fund at Reverse Rett supports the efforts of MECP2 Duplication families in Europe working to speed treatments and a cure for their children. Same gene, same goal!

Story

🏔️On 16th May 2025 me and my wonderful work colleague Vicki will be climbing for a cure for my son Ollie who has a life limiting condition called MECP2 Duplication syndrome.

We must be mad! Well I am as I’ve never done anything on this scale before, and I wouldn’t say I’m in the best shape fitness wise so this will be interesting 😂

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 25-miles (40km) round trip route, and includes 1600m (5200ft) of ascent and we are aiming to complete this in a single 12 hour Hike.

Oliver is such a sweet little boy with so much love and determination and works so hard mentally and physically to defy all the odds of this disease. It breaks my heart that he is unable to walk or talk and live a normal childhood. When we were told about Ollie’s condition our world crashed, but over time we have realised how much has been done to find a cure for this disease and we are so close to making a cure a reality, now more so than ever.

First in human trials started in 2024 in the US with IONIS pharmaceuticals and is making good progress, as with all clinical trials a cure doesn’t happen over night but we also have cure developments and gene therapies being looked at all over the globe.

We need your help to make this happen and to raise as much money as we can to ensure cure developments continue. We need a cure and we need it fast! With your support and contributions to the MECP2 Duplication Fund, we can bring hope to families like ours and change the lives of children affected by this awful disease.
