Story
To mark my transition to (partial) retirement, I am walking the Pennine Way over 21 days during May. As you may know, I love hiking, but this will be my biggest challenge to date, walking solo for 265 'map miles' from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in southern Scotland. With a total ascent of 11,200m that's 1.25 times the height of Everest; nobody pointed that out when I first signed up!
But it's all in two great causes; Alzheimer's Society and Cancer Research UK. My mum died of cancer in 2005, and I have had cancer twice, so this is clearly a cause close to my heart. My wife Janet's mum died with Alzheimer's in 2021, and so it seems fitting that these two great charities should benefit from your generosity.
You can donate to either of the two charities. Please click one of the 'donate' buttons below (the top one for CRUK or the 2nd for Alzheimer's). Sorry it's a bit clunky but this seems to be the way when fundraising for more than one charity!
Just to be clear, all accommodation, food and travel costs are being paid for by me, so 100% of the money raised on this site will benefit the charities.
Thank you so much!
