Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In August 2024 our dear friend Kathryn Rudd lost her battle with cancer. Kathryn had devoted her career to working with young adults with complex learning and physical disabilities. She was a truly incredible lady who fought hard to improve the lives of young disabled people and to get them a fairer deal. She was awarded the OBE for her work, an accolade that was richly deserved. She worked for many years at the National Star college near Cheltenham. This inspirational place gives disabled young people the opportunity to gain their independence and fulfil their potential. Before Kathryn passed away she set up the Kathryn Rudd Opportunity Fund to ensure her friends, family and colleagues continued to raise money into the future. The money raised will be spent on new equipment which will enable the students to do things that otherwise would not be possible. Needless to say a lot of this equipment is very expensive so myself and Paul will be running the Cheltenham half marathon to raise some money that will hopefully make a real difference. If you are able to spare a few pennies and / or share our fundraising page we would both be hugely grateful. Our employer Babcock has also kindly vowed to support us so the more we raise through donations the more they will contribute.
