Story
Every day of the year St Wilfrid's Hospice helps a patient get expert medical and emotional care through a terminal illness.
My dear Mum - Patty - is under the care of St Wilfred’s Hospice. During last summer after a harrowing 6 months she was admitted for palliative treatment and an attempt to stabilise her symptoms. We were warmly welcomed as a whole family, and there are a lot of us - mum has 2 children and our 2 partners, 6 grandchildren and their partners, four great-grandchildren and a very dear husband - Roger - of 60 years! Gradually we all visited her over the coming weeks. The kindness, support and love we were given was all encompassing. The staff spent so much time and energy helping to alleviate mums discomfort and pain and.also arranged for the palliative radiotherapy.
Our whole family cannot be more grateful to them for the extra time that they have been instrumental in giving to her to spend with us all…the birth of her 4th great grandchild, their 60th wedding anniversary, 2 celebration parties and the card from the King! Her 85th birthday and another Christmas. All of which were not expected that Mum would see and for which we will be forever grateful. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for the continued support, particularly the home visits from our wonderful nurse Julie. Your weekly visits Julie are a breath of calm and reassurance to my Mum & Dad and therefore us all.
Thank you…for everything.
