“Super” Nick Dean was born in 1985. At the age of 7, Nick was diagnosed with Leukaemia and received years of treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

A bone marrow match was found for Nick on the Anthony Nolan register, and in 2001 he was able to live an action packed healthy life.

10 years ago, Nick developed a brain tumour and died in Kings College Hospital, on 16th February 2014. As he was still clear on leukaemia, his organs could be used for transplant and his heart, lungs, liver, pancreas and kidneys were donated to help 5 different people.

Thanks to Antony Nolan Fund, Nick enjoyed an 12 extra years of good health, and we were fortunate enough to enjoy these years with him, working at the local leisure centre, holidaying and enjoying exciting (and sometimes frightening!) motorbike rides.

Chris, Matt and Graham Patey will be running London Marathon on April 21st 2024 to raise money for Anthony Nolan, so that more people can be given the opportunity of getting a stem cell transplant.

Chris will be running in the Elite runners section looking to reach a new PB. Whilst Matt and Graham will be running their first ever marathons.
