Dupa doi ani pauza, scoala de vara „Oxford pentru România” se întoarce în 2022!

Între 27 august si 4 septembrie vom aprinde lumina pentru educatie si vom aduce la Oxford 24 de liceeni cu potential din familii modeste din România pentru a le oferi o experienta educationala transformatoare.

Acesta este cel de-al cincilea an al scolii de vara „Oxford pentru România” - noua zile de calatorie prin lumea stiintelor, artelor, dezvoltarii personale si a carierei, alaturi de cercetatori si profesionisti care studiaza si lucreaza în Oxford si nu numai. Dorim sa strângem bani pentru sapte burse jumatate (o bursa = 1000 lire) pentru a ne asigura ca putem aduce toti finalistii la Oxford.

Dupa o selectie riguroasa, am ales cei 24 de finalisti din cei aproape 450 de candidati. Le vom prezenta noi profesii, vor analiza tendintele contemporane, de la inteligenta artificiala la schimbarile climatice, si le vom da un impuls de încredere pentru a-si imagina propriul viitor si pentru a da înapoi comunitatilor lor.

Tinerii pe care i-am adus la Oxford în anii precedenti au initiat deja propriile proiecte comunitare în România, au facut voluntariat pentru cauze în care credeau si au început sa învete în mod independent subiecte despre care nu stiau nimic înainte de experienta scolii de vara. Acum, ei fac parte din echipa de organizare, iar unii dintre ei îsi doneaza abilitatile/ pasiunile pentru a strânge bani pentru ca cei care vin din urma lor, dupa cum ne marturiseste Ana-Maria, participanta în 2017:

„Acum fac parte din echipa de organizare si sunt hotarâta sa duc acest spirit mai departe, cu sprijinul organizatorilor si celorlalti profesionisti care cred si ei în acest program.

Experienta pe care am avut-o a facut lumina în alegerea carierei mele. Aici mi s-a spus pentru prima data ca am abilitati sa devin antreprenoare si... am devenit! Câteodata, ai nevoie lânga tine de cineva care sa vada scânteia ce îti aprinde pasiunea. Asadar, va invit sa transmiteti, împreuna cu mine, torta de lumina catre urmatoarea generatie. :)”

After a two-year break, the "Oxford for Romania" Summer School returns in 2022!

Between 27 August and 4 September, we will turn on the lights for education and bring 24 promising Romanian high school students from modest backgrounds to Oxford for a transformative educational experience.

This is the fifth edition of the "Oxford for Romania" Summer School - a nine-day adventure in the world of sciences, arts, personal development and careers led by researchers and professionals studying and working in Oxford and beyond. Our aim is to raise money for seven scholarships and a half (one scholarship = £1000) to ensure we can bring all the finalists to Oxford.

After a rigorous selection process, we have chosen 24 finalists from nearly 450 applicants. We will introduce them to new professions, explore contemporary trends from artificial intelligence to climate change, and give them the confidence to imagine their own futures and give back to their communities.

Former participants to our summer school have already started their own community projects in Romania, volunteered for causes they believe in, and started learning independently about subjects they knew nothing about before their Oxford experience. Now, they are part of the organising team, and some of them donate their skills and passions to raise money for those who follow in their footsepts, as Ana-Maria, a 2017 alumna, declares:

"I am now part of the organising team and I am determined to carry this spirit forward, with the support of the organisers and other professionals who also believe in this programme.

My Oxford experience helped me shed light on my career choice. It was here where I was told for the first time that I had the skills to become an entrepreneur and... I did! Sometimes, you need someone to see the spark that lights up your passion. So, I invite you to pass the torch of light together with me to the next generation. :)"
