Story
Our nephew, Jered Kelly, has gone through testicular cancer twice in the last two years. Both times he faced this challenge with great courage and was inspired to share his story to help eachothers.
During his second fight with cancer this year he had to undergo three cycles of chemotherapy. Thankfully the results from the CT scan following this treatment were very positive, the tumour shrunk considerably, and is likely to keep shinking over time. Now he wants to use his recent experience, struggles and story to raise awareness along with any funds we can, not just for men’s health, but for all health, both physically and mentally.
On average it takes a man 5 months to have a lump looked at by a health professional and in some cases its simply too late. Time is of the essence as he has successfully shown in my own cancer journey.
Therefore, using a moustache as a catalyst, the idea is to bring about change and give men the opportunity and confidence to learn and talk about their health and take action when needed.
As a global men’s health movement, the Movember Foundation has the ambition to contribute towards improving the lives of men around the world. Since 2003 Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men, with real progress made towards:
• Reduced mortality from prostate, testicular cancer and male suicide
• Men living with prostate or testicular cancer being physically and mentally well
• Men and boys understanding how to be mentally healthy and taking action when they experience mental health problems
• Men and boys with mental health problems not being discriminated against.
We are the leading charity changing the face of mens health. We know what works for men and what doesn't. Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention were taking them all on.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 mens health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, and shaking up mens health research, support services and treatment.
