Raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity and RMA - The Royal Marines Charity

Story

UPDATE - Operation Snowdon Ascent

Operation Snowdon Ascent took place Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th October and I completed 9 ascents of Mount Snowdon. Over the 48 hours, I successfully travelled 81 miles and a combined height of 8,775m – which is only 74m shorter than the height of Mount Everest.

I've set a new world endurance record on the mountain, completing 6 ascents in the first 24 hours which succeeded a previous record of 5 ascents in that time, and setting a brand new record for most ascents in 48 hours. Thank you so much everyone for your support and generous donations for two very deserving charities.

Operation Snowdon Ascent: Summiting Mount Snowdon, 10 times in 48 hours, carrying 40lb. This October I’ve set myself a huge fitness challenge to raise money for charity, that will be both physically and mentally demanding. I’ll be seeing how many times I can summit Mount Snowdon in 48 hours whilst carrying 40lb (18kg), aiming for 10 ascents or more during this time period. I’ll be taking the Llanberis Path which is 9 miles long and 975m ascent so this is a goal total of 90 miles travelled, with a total ascent of 9,750m - a combined height taller than Mount Everest!

I’m raising money and awareness for two causes close to my heart, The Fire Fighters Charity and The Royal Marines Charity. I served as a Royal Marine Commando for 7 years before joining the fire service in 2019. Both charities offer invaluable support to the workers and their families. Both these jobs are extremely demanding, often working very long hours without a break in physically difficult or high stress situations. It’s important that this challenge pushes the boundaries and goes beyond what people have already done on Mount Snowdon to set a new benchmark.

I’m planning to do the challenge on Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th October, with a backup date weather depending (but only if it would critically affect safety). For the two-day event there will be a base camp, charity buckets and Firefighters & Marines coming down to support my challenge and put in a couple of ascents themselves, with the more the merrier. It’s half term week so we’re hoping to see a good turn out on the mountain.

Most importantly, I’m doing this to raise money and awareness. If the money raised can help just one person this event will be more than worth it. Thank you for your support!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. You can choose to donate to either charity but I'd like to keep the donation split between both the charities as equal as possible, please keep this in mind when choosing.
