Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will bring the curtain down on their historic tennis rivalry as they face off in the third-place match at the Six Kings Slam on Saturday.

Tennis fans are set to be treated to one more battle in the Saudi exhibition tournament before the 22-time grand slam champion calls time on his career, after he recently announced he'll be retiring from tennis later this year.

After Djokovic suffered defeat to world No.1 Jannik Sinner on Thursday and Nadal lost out to fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the tennis legends — who have played each other 60 times with Djokovic winning 31 of the matches — face off for a final encounter.

The duo are competing in the inaugural Riyadh Season Six Kings Slam, which features six of the biggest men's names in the sport. Each player will bank a minimum of $1.5 million for their participation in the tournament with the overall winner pocketing $6 million — the biggest single financial prize in the history of the sport.

Rafael Nadal vs. Novak Djokovic: Six Kings Slam start time

Date: Saturday, October 19

Time: 12.30 p.m. ET | 9.30 a.m. PT

Nadal vs. Djokovic is scheduled to start at approximately 12.30 p.m. ET / 9.30 a.m. PT on Saturday, October 19, with the match taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will take to the court afterwards to contest the final.

The first-ever Six Kings Slam tennis tournament is set to reach a blockbuster conclusion in Saudi Arabia tonight. The Riyadh exhibition is playing host to what promises to be a momentous and emotional final-ever meeting between two of the sport’s true all-time greats, with Rafael Nadal facing longtime rival Novak Djokovic for the last time before he ends his illustrious career after next month’s Davis Cup finals.

While it’s not the final of this event after both men were defeated in the semi-finals on Thursday, the third-place contest arguably eclipses the actual showpiece as two icons of the court play out the final chapter in their epic rivalry. Djokovic leads the all-time head to head with Nadal by 31 wins to 29, having beaten the Spaniard in straight sets in the second round of the Paris Olympic singles competition at Roland Garros back in July.

After Nadal vs Djokovic take to the court at 5pm BST, we then have the small matter of another high-profile showdown between reigning world No1 Jannik Sinner and No2-ranked Carlos Alcaraz, who square off from 7.30pm in the final for the chance to pocket a record prize of $6million (£4.6m).

Widely considered one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the sport, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have met no fewer than 60 times, with their last meeting coming at Roland Garros in the second round of the singles competition during this summer’s Paris Olympics.

When asked how he was able to be friends with long-time rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal revealed it was because they share similar values.

The two will contest a third-place play-off at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia after losing their respective semi-finals on Thursday night.

Nadal, one of the most decorated and iconic players of all time, has announced his imminent retirement from the sport and will officially hang the racket up after the Davis Cup finals on home soil in Malaga next month.

Widely considered one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the sport, the two have met no fewer than 60 times, including at Roland Garros in the second round of the singles competition during this summer’s Paris Olympics.

In Paris their clash took place on clay courts which Nadal once dominated but this time it will be on the hardcourts. Djokovic’s previous loss to Nadal on hardcourts was in 2013 during the US Open final. Since then the Serbian has won nine successive hardcourt matches against Nadal without dropping a set. This time too the results could be the same.

The odds are in Djokovic’s favour due to his current form and Nadal’s health conditions. The court surface will also give due advantage to Djokovic. Meanwhile the Spaniard will try not to force his body to test the limits as it is an exhibition match and will hope to saviour his final career moments with Djokovic. With format being best of three sets, the audience has sleek chances of witnessing the end through the decider.
