Story

I am supporting Frontline by undertaking to 'Stride Through Summer'. I have pledged to walk a total of 700,000 steps by 31 August, one step for every single child who needs the support of a social worker in England each year.

These children often live in the toughest circumstances, because their family is struggling with multiple challenges such as domestic abuse, poverty and mental ill-health.

This means these children don’t always get the love, care, and protection they deserve, and might experience abuse, neglect and trauma. This not only harms them now but, without help, can do long-term damage too. Frontline social workers can change this. The support, commitment and protection they give to these children and their families, can help them turn things around and give them hope for the future.

I will update on my progress throughout. Thank you for supporting me and Frontline as they work towards better futures for vulnerable children and families. One step at a time...

Approximately 700,000 children in England rely on the support of social workers each year. We create social change for these children by developing excellent social work practice, leadership and innovation through our programmes, and a movement of leaders in social work through our Fellowship.
