Story
My biggest challenge yet: I will be riding 1538km (955miles) with 14500m elevation (47572 ft) in 5 days from London to Edinburgh (LEL) and back to London from 7th to 12th August 2022.
LEL only takes place every 4 years. It's not a race, but I only have 125 hours to roughly cover an average of over 300 km and 2900m of climbing each day with little sleep. There are 13 control points where the organisers provide hot meals, showers, and blankets to sleep (think smelly, snoring cyclists!).
Although I'm known to have done my share of cycling, I haven't done anything even close to this craziness and I'm no longer a spring chicken...! And while there are so many issues that need our attention at the moment, I want to use this opportunity to shine a light on two charities that are important to me: my friends' charity Erase Meso (1st link to donate below) (mesothelioma - asbestos cancer) and the Springboard Charity (2nd link to donate) - who support the hospitality industry and do amazing work to help disadvantaged and unemployed people to find their way into our sector. You will find further info for both charities on the 2 individual pages.
Most of all, your donation will make sure that I keep on pushing all the way through the end! Thank you so much for your support xx
