Story
“Night Without Lights” is a student-led initiative, founded to raise awareness about energy poverty in parts of Africa where nearly 548 million people are having their days cut due to lack of electricity. The funds we raise will provide clean, safe, and affordable solar lights to transform lives in rural communities. All you have to do is switch off your lights on 5th March for as little as one hour to experience what a night is like without reliable lighting.
Last year we raised 3800 GBP and it helped SolarAid reach 5,081 people and decrease CO2 emissions by 999.6 tonnes!
This year, 6 schools have joined together to spread awareness and fundraise from a larger community. Our goal is to raise 7000 GBP and it will allow SolarAid to reach 9440 people and decrease CO2 emissions by 1857 tonnes!
Please support SolarAid ( www.solar-aid.org) by donating any amount of money that you feel comfortable with so that together, we can create a world where no one is left in the dark.
