As some of you are aware Hawys was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease on 11 December 2020. This turned our lives upside down as a family trying to cope with the sudden news. It's also been a very emotional time and found walking helped me personally whilst down in Cardiff, but you all know I have a love for cycling. We've set a target of a minimum of 1.5 miles, 531 miles in a year.

I've therefore chosen 3 charities as Noah's Ark saved Hawys's life and continued support, Kidney Wales continue to monitor her recovery, adapting home dialysis and preparing her for future organ transplant. Last but not least Ronald McDonald House Cardiff for providing my family a safe place to stay near the hospital as we live over a 100 miles away.

Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child's bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain.
