Story
Beards for Bucks is a fun and exciting fundraiser where law enforcement officers grow facial hair during the month of October in support of their local Child Advocacy Centers. Newport Police officers depend on the generosity of our community to make donations in furtherance of our fundraising efforts.
The Child Advocacy Center at CHaD helps child victims and their families from the devastation of abuse. These cases requires a victim centered, multidisciplinary approach from a team of dedicated, expert professionals who strive through their collaboration to reduce the stress and trauma of the investigation and intervention process. The CAC at CHaD works in partnership with all the necessary agencies and specialists to coordinate a plan of action to provide high-quality, specialized services for abused children and their families to heal, survive and thrive. What's more, they provide many of their services in the comfort and convenience of their child-friendly locations.
The CAC at CHaD has set a lofty fundraising goal this year, and police departments around the state are competing to be the highest grossing team. The Town of Newport has experience winning facial hair contests, as we are in the Guiness Book of World Records for having the largest number of beard and mustache competitors at the 2011 Winter Carnival! Let's bring back that same zest this year! Any donation will help!
