Story
I am running the London Marathon in April 2023! I have chosen to raise money for both the Stroke Association and Parkinson's UK charities. I would like both charities to receive equal amounts of donations if possible. Please see below for information about each charity and cause, and donate anything you can to whichever charity you prefer, no matter how small!
You can find the donation pages are at the bottom of this page; the first page is for Parkinson’s UK and the second page is for Stroke Association.
Parkinsons UK:
I have chosen to raise money for Parkinson's UK because my Grandma had Parkinsons from the age of 60. Parkinson's affects people gradually over time, causing deterioration to the brain. The main symptoms for my Grandma were the involuntary movements in her hands and arms, which meant that she was unable to do the things she loved, such as painting, knitting, and gardening.
Anyone can get Parkinson’s, and there is currently no cure. Parkinson's UK help to support people with Parkinson's and also help to fund research into a cure for Parkinson's. Your donations can help to find research and help support people with Parkinson's and their families.
The Stroke Association:
I have chosen to raise money for The Stroke Association because both my Grandma and Grandad suffered from a stroke. A stroke can affect people in many ways; physically, mentally and emotionally. For my Grandma it affected her physically, she was unable to do what she used to do and had to have 24/7 care. My Grandad suffered from aphasia which meant his ability to find and say words was affected drastically, which was so awful for him as he was a very intelligent man who loved reading and playing scrabble.
The Stroke Association are the UK's leading stroke charity, delivering amazing, life-changing support to over 70,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. Your donations are so important to rebuilding lives after stroke.
