Story
Rebecca is a 19-year-old girl who faced a life-altering challenge during the summer of 2024.
What began as stomach pains led to an astonishingly rare 1 in 5 million diagnosis of a Stage 4 Wilms Tumour (kidney cancer) on September 3rd.
This marked the beginning of a gruelling journey that included chemotherapy and an operation to remove the tumour along with her left kidney a week before Christmas.
As we look ahead to 2025, more chemotherapy, radiotherapy & possibly more awaits her.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life becomes filled with fear—not just for them, but for their entire family. It’s important to remember that age doesn’t diminish the bond; no matter how old they are, they will always be your little one!
We have been incredibly fortunate to receive support from many amazing & compassionate individuals and organisations, including the remarkable Headland Unit, Macmillan Cove Centre, Young Lives Vs Cancer and dedicated nurses who have been by our side through out.
In light of this experience, three college friends Me, Garrick, Jezza & Gerald are united in wanting to make a difference—are taking on the Isle of Wight Challenge in May 2025. Our aim to trek 106km in under 24 hours to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer.
Every day, twelve more children & young people hear the devastating news that they have cancer. Together, we can face this challenge head-on—but we need your help.
We are aiming to raise £10,000 for this vital cause. Your support can make a significant impact in the lives of those affected by cancer. Join us in this fight against childhood cancer and help us bring hope where it’s needed most! To learn more about our mission and how you can contribute, please visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
