Story
The team consists of 10 cyclists, six of whom are staff from Mount St. Mary's College, Barlborough Hall Prep School, Sedbergh School and Sedbergh Prep School, whilst two are the Founder and a Trustee of Siobhan's Trust. The final two members of the team are our intrepid, experienced, navigator, Andrew Green, and the organiser of the challenge, Nick Higham.
Nick and three friends have been collecting goods and fundraising since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, travelling into Ukraine several times to distribute aid and help Siobhan's Trust with delivering pizza and joy. You can read about their journeys and what they have succeeded in doing at www.kidogokidogo.uk
David Fox-Pitt, one of the founders of Siobhan's Trust, is intending to do the cycle challenge on his Penny Farthing!
The challenge begins at 4.30pm on Saturday June 10th at Barlborough Hall Prep School in Derbyshire and the cyclists will attempt a gruelling, trans-Pennine route of 150 miles, finishing at Sedbergh School in Cumbria by 6pm on Sunday 11th June.
The mission of Siobhan’s Trust – Ukraine is to provide food and practical support to the huge number of internally displaced Ukrainians, traumatised by the Russian invasion of their homeland.
They can feed up to 4,000 refugees per day from six mobile kitchens supplying pizza and hot drinks and snacks as well as bringing music, dancing and laughter to remind the Ukrainians that they are not forgotten.
The work of Siobhan's Trust is as much about raising spirits and giving hope as much as feeding the hungry.
