Story
For friends and family here at home, and everyone else around the world who's been touched by dementia, the Morgan family is taking part in Trek26Stonehenge2021-13Miles in September 2021 to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.
In our particular thoughts are: Ronald Morgan, Tessa and Nicci's dad (and Liz, Kate and Simon's grandfather; Joni and Maya’s GREAT-grandfather!), who would have turned 105 this year; Jean Morgan, his loving wife, and mother and grandmother to the rest of us; and finally Ron and Jean's great friend Ethel Jacobs, Tessa and Nicci's godmother, who despite her dementia, is still going strong at almost 100.
We're supporting the Alzheimer's Society because they conduct research into dementia care, causes, cures and prevention. They also work hard to create a world in which people can live in a dementia-friendly society, without fear and prejudice, and provide guidance and support to families across the UK.
Ronald Morgan (b.1916) on his 80th birthday - also known as Ron, Dad and Gramps
Says Tessa Davies (nee Morgan): ”On a very hot day in May 2009, Team Morgan did the Race for Life in Bute Park, Cardiff. We jogged, ran, walked, crawled, bunny-hopped and one of us was even carried over the finishing line. This year, in memory of Ron and Jean Morgan, their daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters are raising funds for the Alzheimers Society by walking 13 miles around Stonehenge in September. We are now 12 years older, some are wiser, some have grey hair, and some are now considerably taller than the others. Who will be bunny-hopping and who will be the one to be carried over the finishing line this time? Please support us with a donation however small and we’ll let you know! Thank you all so much ❤”
