Story
Dove & Boweevil are excited to share news with you of our upcoming single featuring dear friend and talented songstress Yve Mary B.
Having performed on several occasions with Yve over the years, one stand out song for us was a cover of Jimi's Hendrix's song Angel. We decided to record it just before Yve moved to Alabama in the US a few weeks ago ( good luck Yve!) and to put the song to good use by raising money for charity.
Angel by Jimi Hendrix is a song that I have performed a long time ago that I felt connected to after my mum Alison who passed away from cancer in June of 2000. Sadly earlier this year I lost a good friend and choir member to cancer also and so it was Dawn that inspired the decision to raise money for the Star Throwers charity based in Wymondham who took great care of her. They do great work supporting patients of any type of cancer as well as their carers and while there is a great amount of fundraising for Cancer Dawn felt that small charities often get overlooked.
I think each of us can probably list loved ones lost to cancer but it seems that in recent years Dove & Boweevil have lost a few great supporters of our music including Alan Pearce at Blues Matters Magazine who always showed interest in our music and included us in the magazine. Rob de Fries of Blues Train FM in the Netherlands who pledged generously to our album and also invited to play The Shack. Matt Taylor who often supported our music, often included us his events at The Half moon in Putney and worked on our PR for our album This Life. Jules Fothergill, talented guitarist and part of the UK blues family who was an inspiration. Lastly my cousin Steve Diamond who passed away in July 2021.
Well, I don't know about you but I have a box of tissues after that. So please, enjoy our song and hope you are able to spare a few pounds for a great cause.
