Story
Update 13th March 2023 - Lovely weather in Dovestone for some of our amazing team; 🌧️ getting the miles in on the hills today in preparation for the Three Peaks in aid of @firefighters999 - Massive thanks for the support, we’ve raised over £3,000 as a team so far!
Update 16th January 2023 - some tired legs after a 20km hike over the cliffs in East Sussex, but a really good session. Not long to our challenge date and many of the team are getting out and about on their own training walks all over the country!
Update 11th October - A week on from our first training walk in Derbyshire. Fantastic effort from everyone and already looking ahead to the next date!
Update 7th August - We now have amazing people stepping forward to join us, representing fire control teams in: AVON, BEDFORDSHIRE, LEICESTERSHIRE, NFCC, NORTH WEST, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE & DERBYSHIRE, SCOTLAND AND STAFFORDSHIRE & WEST MIDLANDS
This is a challenge to raise money for our brilliant Fire Fighters Charity and in doing so, highlight the amazing and important part our fire controls and fire control personnel play in helping our communities.
Together, fire control personnel from around the UK will be taking on the National Three Peaks challenge in June 2023.
Our chosen charity
The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong support for members of the UK’s fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.
To ensure the Charity can do this for over 5,000 people a year and to meet the £9m cost of operating its support services, it is dependent on regular donations from fire and rescue service personnel, past and present, as well as the general public.
Our challenge
The Three Peaks Challenge is the most highly regarded trekking challenge in the UK! Our target trekking time is 15 hours or less, (the equivalent available trekking time for the traditional 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge). During the challenge we will:
• Summit the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales
• Walk approximately 22 miles
• Climb around 9,500 feet
• See the sunset over the Mickledore
• Climb Scafell Pike at night
