Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page supporting the MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE ASSOCIATION.
I (Rob) recently had the pleasure of running Medina Park Run with one of my Primary School friends, David Baker. I also ran with his wife Alice and some of their friends that had travelled over with them from Southampton that day. We spent time chatting through our run and later at a fundraiser in Cowes called Sounds and Grounds.
Eight months ago, David was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, yet he didn't stop smiling, laughing and joking all day. David's positivity left me so emotional in that he and Alice have such a positive outlook, they are positive in their thinking and are now looking at what they can tick off their bucket list whilst they're still able to. From my conversations with David and Alice, MNDA have been a real support and help to them.
Myself, Cat Keeble, Kev and Debbie Bennett and Love Running want to raise as much money as we can for MNDA so that they can continue to support those living with MND. In order to do this, we have challenged ourselves to not only run the Great South Run, but also run a total of 100km each throughout October.
*If anyone else would to join our Just Giving team, please do not hesitate to ask.*
If you can support our fundraiser in any way, please do. None of us know what the future holds but we would all hope that when dealt an unfair hand, friends and family would rally in support.
Glen Jones is organising a friendly frolic fun run on 22nd October, starting at 10am from the Bargeman's Rest, Newport. Our team member, Cat has organised.
ALSO, (with great thanks to Cat), at our LRTN club on Tuesday 10th October, Jo has very kindly allowed us to hold 'Dave's Blucky Dip & Bingo Evening'! Here's how it goes- "for £5 you get to choose a balloon which will win you a small prize, but wait that’s not all!! You also get a page of 6 Bingo cards (plus a pencil:-). Dave will have chosen a random sequence of numbers that will be released on 10/10 and then every week in Jo’s newsletter until someone shouts Bingo! There are prizes for Bingo! and other combos of numbers!"
Cat has some amazing ideas for our fundraising effort. These will be shared on our Facebook pages in due course so please keep an eye out.
Lastly, we are all aware of how powerful Social Media can be! PLEASE take a few seconds to share our fundraiser and spread awareness. We are all training and running incredibly hard to raise money for a valuable cause so every donation, and share is greatly appreciated.
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. By sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Thank you again.
