Raising money for Help for Heroes and Shine Bright Support

Story

Middle House are organising a 1000 mile challenge to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe. Any students, staff or family members can attempt to cover as many miles as possible by bike, running, walking or swimming.

It is suggested that you raise through sponsorship, or donate, £1 per mile covered. Activity can take place any time during the week commencing Monday 15th June.

We are raising money for two charities this year: Help for Heroes and Shine Bright Support.

***WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AN EVEN SPLIT OF MONIES RAISED BETWEEN THESE TWO CHARITIES, SO PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY WHICH LINK YOU DONATE TO, OR IDEALLY SPLIT YOUR DONATION BETWEEN THE TWO***.

The first donation link below allows you to donate to Help for Heroes and the second donation link to Shine Bright Support. Please read below for a little more about these charities:

Shine Bright Support: www.shinebrightsupport.co.uk

A locally based charity. We provide mental health support to those affected by childhood cancer. We are a small charity with big ideas. We are currently concentrating on families that are treated at Oxford Children’s Hospital and the ‘split’ site hospitals that offer treatment when the child is at home. In the future we would like to support families and children in treatment all over the country. We also hope to develop training and education packages for professionals that have contact with families, who have received treatment, to help them understand how best to help them.

-Raise funds to place a mental health professional, one day a week, at the Great Western Hospital (GWH) in Swindon.

- Raise awareness of childhood cancer and the impact it can have on the mental health of the whole family.

- Care packages for newly diagnosed families.

- Create a network of support including online groups, parent groups and contact with a patient/parent/sibling/grandparent that has experienced childhood cancer and offer practical advice where needed.

- On referral from a medical professional, fund counselling and other therapeutic interventions for patients and family members suffering the effects of trauma as a result of childhood cancer.

Help For Heroes: www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Help wounded veterans and their families to recover and get on with their lives. Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. Your fundraising helps them recover and get on with their lives. So far we've supported more than 25,000 people and won’t stop until every veteran gets the support they deserve.
