Story
We will be running the Great North Run to raise money for the Stroke Association.
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, causing it to shutdown. Strokes can be fatal or cause permanent damage such as loss of brain function (i.e. speech) and mobility. This is a cause very close to us as our grandparents have suffered from strokes. Our Gran had been hospitalized several times in our lifetime and sadly in 2019 she suffered a very serious stroke and passed away. At the start of the same year we also lost our Grandad who had suffered from several strokes in his lifetime. There are a number of different causes of a stroke, some of which can be hereditary. So not only is this an issue that has already had a massive impact on our lives, it's something that we need to be very aware of.
We had planned to run in 2020 in memory of both our Gran and Grandad and to help raise money for this great cause, but due to covid we'll be running this year instead. Stroke Association provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by strokes get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives. Please if you have the time have a read of their website.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Stroke Association: "When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives."
