Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As I rapidly approach 50 rather than simply have a mid life crisis and buy a motorbike I wanted a challenge that would last me. I have decided to combine my love of travelling with doing something worthwhile and to that end I am part of an expedition to The Gambia in March 2022: Op Zephyr.
Police officers and staff from around the UK and Europe will support the National Police Aid Charity. The expedition is composed of police officers, mainly from the UK but from all over Europe, who are transporting a fleet of over 30 ambulances over 3,500kms to rural communities in The Gambia. This donation will help to care for and save the lives of thousands of Gambians, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access urgent medical care. In a country where infant mortality is amongst the highest, and minor injuries quickly result in life changing issues such as amputation. The provision of an ambulance service will make all the difference.
The expedition will start in Spain, the route will take us through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal and into The Gambia. We expect to be away for two weeks.
We are using our own time and resources to this, but we need your help. We need to fund everything from flights, ferry crossings, fuel and accommodation, and even purchasing the donor vehicles themselves. Any donations towards helping to make this life changing project succeed will be greatly appreciated.
